Ndwedwe Youth VCT Project

The goal of the Ndwedwe Youth VCT Project was to increase access to and participation of youth (the 15-24 age group) in youth-friendly HIV/AIDS and Voluntary Counseling Treatment (VCT) services in the Ndwedwe district of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
Project objectives were:
1) To establish youth-friendly VCT centers and post-test support groups in Department of Health (DOH) clinics to provide quality HIV/AIDS VCT services for youth in Ndwedwe;
2) To work with key government and community stakeholders (DOH, Department of Education, Community Health Clubs) to create a supportive environment for youth-focused activities and establish school health and community youth clubs;
3) To build capacity of Drama AIDS Education (DramAidE) school health clubs and empower youth to implement youth-focused HIV/AIDS prevention activities.
