Project Title: Fonds d'Appui pour l'Assainissement (FAA)
For the past six years, MCDI has implemented the Fonds d’Appui pour l’Assainissement (FAA) project with funding from the Water Supply and Collaborative Council’s Global Sanitation Fund (WSSCC/GSF). The goal of this project is to eliminate open defection nation-wide through increasing the number of people living in open defecation free (ODF) environments, increasing the number of people washing their hands with soap, increasing the number of people using improved latrines, promoting the construction of improved latrines and hand-washing stations and identifying and disseminating successful and innovative sanitation and hygiene approaches. This project’s geographical scope now covers all 22 regions and will reach a total of 10.4 million people at the programs completion. MCDI provides NGOs sub-grants to implement FAA’s objectives accomplished by Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approaches, sanitation marketing and behavior change communication.
